Does the non-resident income tax return?
It is an annual tax obligation for all foreigners who have a home in Spain, and / or work and are not tax residents, the tax agency may require up to 5 years prior and with sanctions.
The IRNR is a direct tax levied on the income obtained in Spanish territory by individuals and entities not resident in this country.
Non-resident taxpayer who owns property:
If you are a non-resident in Spain and are the owner of an urban property located in Spanish territory, you will be subject to non-resident income tax and a local tax, the Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles.
Non-resident taxpayers with businesses and/or jobs:
Taxpayers not resident in Spain will have to present the IRNR if they have obtained the following income in Spanish territory:
- Income from work carried out in Spanish territory, including business, entrepreneurial activities.
- Pensions, retirements and benefits received from the state not being resident in Spain, and not being a tax resident.
Income from real estate in Spain, if you rent.
- Investment funds, savings, dividends and income from participating in Spanish entities.
- Remuneration of directors and board members of Spanish companies.
- Capital gains from the transfer of your home, securities or shares.
